Adults create a caring and highly supportive atmosphere ~ OFSTED 2013

All classes are mixed ability, with children being taught a full range of subjects by the class teacher, with some interchange of teachers for certain activities. There are two classes in each year group, a red class and a yellow class. We have no mixed age classes.

Being an open plan school has many advantages, giving opportunity to develop friendly relationships and a team approach.

'Around here, we don't look backwards for very long...... we keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things because we're curious .... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.' Walt Disney

The Foundation Stage ~ Nursery and Reception Classes

Kingston Park Primary School has two part time Nursery classes, enabling children to be taught from a planned programme of learning and development from the age of 3 years. We teach to the nationally prescribed Early Learning Goals outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

Key Stage 1 (Years 1 - 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6)

Children begin to follow the National Curriculum in Year 1. They are taught in subject based teaching areas.

Each year group has a Language/Arts base and a Maths/Science/Technology base. The children spend time in each base on a rolling programme.

Within the rooms, the children work mainly in three ability groups which cater for their needs.

Additional Support

Children who need a ‘boost’ in order to achieve national standards in Mathematics and English may receive extra help using national schemes of work, as well as programmes designed by school staff.

Library

The Library is situated in the Book Garden in the centre of school.

Computer Suite

Our Computer Suite is situated within the Library and caters for pupils.

Hall and Gym

The hall and gym are used for PE, music, drama and assemblies. The hall is used during lunchtimes.

Outdoor Classrooms

Each Key Stage has access to an outdoor classroom. Children have regular planned opportunities to work outdoors to support and extend their learning across all areas of the curriculum.
