Art & Design
The object of art is to give life shape ~ William Shakespeare.
At Kingston Park Art provides an opportunity to inspire children to develop their creative and imaginative skills. Art provides a way of understanding and responding to the environment as well as appreciating art from other cultures.
At Kingston Park we aim to deliver an art curriculum which provides opportunities for children to:
- Develop visual skills, knowledge and understanding, investigating and making and art appreciation.
- Learn about colour, line, form, texture and pattern.
- To explore a variety of techniques and skills to develop their ability in art such as painting, sketching, modelling, collage work and textiles.
- To select from and use a wide range of different materials while learning about famous artists and traditions, architects and designers.
Children will be taught art as a separate subject where a new skill or craft will be introduced and will support and initiate learning in many subjects across the Curriculum. Children’s artwork will be celebrated throughout school in the form of displays in the corridor, classrooms and hall throughout the year.
