PE and Sport Premium
Please read the information below which gives details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
Following the 2012 Olympics, the Government provided extra funding for Primary Schools. The purpose of the extra funding is to improve outcomes for all students in physical well-being, PE and sports activities.
All children and young people should live healthy active lives. The UK Chief Medical Officers recommend that all children and young people should take part in moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity for at least 60 minutes every day. The Childhood Obesity Plan says that at least 30 minutes of daily activity should take place in schools. Schools have a key role to play in achieving this aim.
Schools should prioritise PE and sport premium spending to improve in the following 5 key areas:
Increasing all staff’s confidence, knowledge and skills in teaching PE and sport
Increasing engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and sport.
Raising the profile of PE and sport across the school, to support whole school improvement.
Offer a broader and more equal experience of a range of sports and physical activities to all pupils.
Increase participation in competitive sport.
At Kingston Park we believe in helping all children access a range of opportunities to engage in sporting activities and to develop their love of sport and physical activity regardless of their sporting abilities. Supporting the 5 key indicators outlined above, we are using the funding to:
Provide all children with a wider range of sporting opportunities both inside and outside of school hours.
Promote an active lifestyle for all our children.
Promote sport in school and inspire children to want to engage in sporting activity in their own lives.
Developing staff knowledge and skills for delivering PE and sports in school.
Providing children with a broad and wide-ranging curriculum
Providing children with a range of after school sporting activities
Develop talents and provide children with competitive pathways and opportunities to take part in competitive sport.

Current PE & School Sport Provision
We currently provide a broad PE curriculum to our children, covering a range of different skills such as invasion, net and wall, striking and fielding, athletics, dance, gymnastics and outdoor and adventurous activities.
Children have the opportunity to partake in regular after school sporting clubs such as gymnastics, football, dodgeball, multi-skills and rugby.
We take part in various external sporting events and festivals such as the Newcastle School Games events, Healthy Active Lifestyle festivals, Trust-wide competitions and local football leagues.
The children at Kingston Park are also provided with opportunities to enhance and enrich our existing provision. They provide new and exciting opportunities to try different sports such as wheelchair basketball, archery, orienteering and hula hoop skills. It also includes links with local sporting clubs such as the Falcons who deliver sessions within school.
