Family and Student Support Worker
All support is confidential and impartial ~ Lyndsay McMenzie
Hi, I'm Lyndsay and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and explain the role of the Family and Student Support Worker (FSSW) in school and also share details of how to get in touch. Parenting is a rewarding job, but it is also the hardest job you will ever have! As Family and Student Support Worker, I am here to help you deal with any concerns you may have about your child in relation to school or home. Support offered to families may include:
- A link to discuss any concerns or worries about your child.
- Supporting parents/carers to improve behaviour/wellbeing at home and school.
- 1:1 support for children around a range of issues such as self-esteem, friendships, bullying, family relationships, worries, managing emotions.
- Signposting and help to access services for families in and around Newcastle including information on holiday and after school activities.
- Support to fill in forms e.g. housing/SEN. Access to training and workshops including sessions in school.
- Just someone to talk to
Why might you need support?
"I need someone to talk to other than family and friends"
"I'm finding my child's behaviour difficult to manage"
"I'm worried about my child moving from primary to secondary school"
"I would like ideas on how to encourage my child to do their homework without and argument!"
I can meet you at home or school. All meetings are confidential and impartial. I may not have all the answers, but hopefully I can help you work out how to find them.
Contact
I can be contacted throughout the week. This can be done through the school office (0191 2140363) or I can be contacted directly via phone call or text on 07494721226.
