Seesaw
What is Seesaw?
Seesaw is a comprehensive digital learning platform designed for primary aged children. At Kingston Park, we use Seesaw to build a digital portfolio for children, improve children’s digital literacy skills and communicate with parents.
Each child has a unique portfolio where they can showcase their work through videos, images, PDFs, drawings, and links. This allows teachers and parents to track progress and growth over time.
In school, Seesaw enhances children’s digital literacy by allowing them to create and share content using various digital tools, fostering effective communication and collaboration. It encourages reflective learning and interactive lessons, helping students develop digital navigation and manipulation skills. Additionally, Seesaw promotes digital citizenship, teaching students about online safety, privacy, and respectful communication.
At home, parents can stay informed about their child’s progress and participate in their learning journey, while children can complete assignments, receive feedback, and engage in interactive activities, ensuring continuous learning beyond the classroom.
The platform facilitates two-way communication between teachers and families, providing continuous visibility into student learning. It also supports text translations in over 100 languages.
Seesaw’s blend of instructional tools, communication features, and accessibility options makes it a valuable resource for enhancing learning both at school and at home.
Getting started with Seesaw for families
Families get notified when there are new posts in their child's digital portfolio. They can view posts and add likes and comments. Connected family members can only see their own child's learning.
Seesaw requires an invite from your child's teacher to sign up. Your child's teacher will provide you with a paper invite (the invite will include a QR code). If you do not have this, please contact your child's teacher and share your email address with them in order for them to link you to your child’s profile.
For further information, view Seesaw’s video below on how to log in, connect to your child's journal, engage with their learning, and message with their teacher.
If you have more than one child using Seesaw, you can subscribe to both journals using the same account. Here's how
