Notice of potential strike action affecting schools

Dear Parents and Carers

Notice of potential strike action affecting schools

You may have heard in the news that one of the unions that represent teachers, the NEU (National Education Union) has announced a series of strike days to support their campaign for better pay.

The days that may affect your child’s school are: 1st and 28th February and the 15th and 16th March 2023.

If strike action does go ahead on these days, NEU members who wish exercise their democratic right to strike, will not attend school and this will disrupt education for some pupils.

Headteachers will be working to assess the likely impact on their schools. It is unlikely that any school will close to all pupils. Unfortunately, until we know which staff are supporting the strike, we are unable to give advance notice of which year groups may be affected. This is likely to be at very short notice before the strike days.

We will of course share more details with you as the strike days get nearer but I would advise parents to explore options for childcare draft on those days in case your child’s year group is affected.

If your child’s year group is not affected, then they should attend school as normal on those days.

Regards,
